The Battle

The time is set
And the sides have met
Ready for the battle to begin.
As the armies are placed
The generals set up base
Deciding where things belong.
As the soldiers advance
They find the barrier immense
With soldiers and knights blocking the way.
The lone soldiers have no chance
Against the might of the powerful lance
As the glorious attack is turning to defeat.
But with the help of knights
They put up a good fight
With the king and queen urging them on.
The bishops help too, any way they can
Threatening and killing enemy men
Forcing the enemy to retreat.
The battle is almost won
But it is not done
Until the monarch has been killed.
The chase continues
And in all this mess
Is part of a game of chess.
